November 2006

Tuesday about 10:00pm my left foot discovered a sewing needle that was lying in wait, poised to attack without sympathy or mercy.

I stepped on the needle, which was in a position nearly parallel to the ground pointed end up, with enough force that it caused the needle to break. Half the needle sprang to the floor and the other half was securely buried deep in my foot beyond the reach of tweezers. It didn’t take long to realize that I’d have to go to the doctor to get the needle out.

This morning I went to my family physician but he didn’t feel comfortable removing the needle. He referred me to another doctor, a podiatrist. He also didn’t feel comfortable removing the needle without surgery. The soonest he can squeeze me in will be Friday, so I’ll be in this delightful state for another 36 hours.

Incase you were wondering, yes it hurts. Yes, it hurts a lot.

Yes, it feels just like you’d expect half a sharp needle stuck in your foot would feel.

I’ll be glad to get this over with.

Christine decorated our little house for Christmas this weekend. I helped by hanging the lights on the gutters, which look neat when photograped with a 5 second exposure.

This was taken well after sunset, in darkness except for the lights on the house.

Don’t look directly at the house without protective lenses.

It’s all over the place but in case you missed it:

The real Superman II

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Superman_II:_The_Richard_Donner_Cut
“ Donner’s film is a totally different film. It really is. From the storyline to the tone to the performances to the pacing…. It just plays different, and works a he** of a lot better than the condensed “Superman II” that we know. It also has some real heart, something sorely missing from the Lester version. ”

Philip and I spotted a slew of Kellogg’s diecast in the warehouse prepared to be autographed.

This can only mean that Kyle Busch is here to steal our women’s hearts with his handsomeness.
